The Beer 2022
2022 Beer Menu
There will be 20+ real ales and at least one draft cider available across the festival venues - The Village Hall, The Selborne Arms & Gilbert White's Brewery.
Originating from the ancient Japanese Samurai warriors, a powerful bamboo long bow, with an off-centre grip. A pale golden hoppy ale.
Amber coloured best bitter with copious amounts of American Cascade hops. Wonderfully aromatic floral nose balanced by a gentle bitterness with a hint of sweetness.
Brewed with Pale and Munich malt, and a touch of wheat, for a light, crisp base. Expect stonefruit and grapefruit notes from our US hops, Amarillo and Ekuanot, with a blast of citrus from the home-grown English Cascade’s bumper 2021 harvest, and a spicy finish from the Australian Enigma hops.
A unique blend of some of Hampshire’s finest low colour and lightly caramelised malted barley with a selection of British and North American hops. With notes of grassy pine and citrus with a lingering aftertaste, this classic “Golden Ale” has a good level of bitterness and flavour to balance the gravity.
This pale-straw coloured beer delivers complete satisfaction. The robust, international flavours of Chinook and Sorachi Ace hops combine with Maris Otter and the body-builder Cara-Pils malts to form a smooth and complex drinking experience.
Very light straw colour, easy drinking session beer. Quite fruity, using a range of modern hops to give gentle citrus notes. Our best selling cask beer.
This hazy full-hopped golden beauty is brewed with Mosaic and our home-grown Cascade in the copper, and dry-hopped with more Cascade, Ekuanot and Azacca - named after the Haitian god of agriculture. With a beautiful blend of citrus, mango and tropical fruit notes, it’s mellow and moreish, with the trademark Phantom haze.
A single hop I.P.A. Apricot and citrus flavours, made with Old English Ernest hops.
A strong traditional ale, uses a blend of Thomas Faucett Golden Promise Pale Ale, Crisp Pale Wheat, and Crisp Black Malts, Celeia and East Kent Goldings Hop Pellets and Lallemand Nottingham Yeast.
Inviting high notes of lemongrass and sauvignon grape come from the new German variety Hallertau Blanc, combined with the familiar passion fruit, mango and lime aromas from judicious dry hopping with American Citra.
A luscious golden modern style IPA. The nose is dominated by the aromas of sherbet and lemon from the Liberty and Columbus hops added late in the hopback. The palate is soft fruits and pineapple balanced with a subtle toffee sweetness, finishing with a pleasant citrus bitterness.
A highly-hopped classic session bitter. The predominant hops are East Kent Goldings which give a Seville Orange marmalade flavour. As well as Pale Ale malt, Hoppit also contains dark Invert Sugar which gives the beer its trademark smooth taste.
Golden amber in colour with a powerful aroma of tropical and citrus fruits from the massive charge of Mosaic hops in copper & FV. Clean, refreshingly bitter and easy drinking.
Some of Hampshire’s finest malted barley and a touch of wheat is combined with Fuggles and First Gold hops to produce a traditional well rounded English beer. Full bodied, nutty and biscuit, with a sweet and smooth bitterness. Bronze in colour with a creamy head, Buster’s is an easy drinking Best Bitter and is named in great fondness after “Buster” the black and white fox terrier who resided behind the bar at our Flower Pots Inn. It also happens to be our Brewer’s favourite!
This Pale Ale takes its name from the castle built by King John in 1207, which is located less than a mile from the original Brewery, and from where he rode out to Runnymede to sign the Magna Carta. The beer itself is deep amber in colour with a blend of pale ale and crystal malt. The bitterness and fruity aroma are developed from a combination of hops.
A graceful golden beer brewed with Amarillo, First Gold and Challenger hops from the UK and USA. We use three malts; English Maris Otter, German Munich and the favourite, Belgian Biscuit which gives this beer it’s wonderful toasty finish and beautiful golden hue. This beer brings a wonderful balance of sweet floral notes and a subtle orange finish making it our favourite session beer.
A burnished gold-coloured harvest ale brewed with English Challenger Hops for bitterness and aroma, complemented with subtle smooth roasted malt sweetness. The brewery has the intention to brew Tin Fish as a single varietal harvest hop bitter changing the hop variety each year showcasing a different English hop variety each year.
A light chestnut in colour which puts it into the 'brown beer' category. As far as flavour goes, it tends rather more towards the malt than the hops, though there is a pleasing hop taste right at the finish. The aroma is light and pleasant.
Rich, ruby red and delicious - everything a winter warmer should be. Hocus Pocus is brewed using English Goldings and Fuggle Hops, pale and dark malts, and a small amount of invert sugar, to create a rich, smooth traditional dark ale.
