Saturday afternoon session - "Meet the Brewer"
Richard Warman, the new owner and head brewer at Broken Bridge Brewing, will be joining us on Saturday afternoon to showcase his ales and chat about beer and brewing. We'll have two of his regular ales, "It's 5 O'clock Somewhere" and "Tessellate", plus 3 other specials in polypins.
There are 23 real ales and 2 draft ciders available across the festival venues - The Village Hall and The Selborne Arms.
A pale, lower strength IPA with pine and citrus flavours from the American Cascade and Simcoe hops.
A clean, smooth American style pale ale brewed with rye, Vienna and caramel malts. Classic American hops of Cascade, Chinook and Summit are used throughout the boil to bring spiced orange, pink grapefruit, berry and pine hop flavours, backed up in aroma by a very hefty dry hop, with a slightly bitter, peppery rye finish.
A Single Hopped Red. This is a complex session red ale singly hopped with fresh American Cascade hops. They bring aromas and flavours of grapefruit zest and undertones of peppery spice and pine, all on a caramel malt base. Beautiful Amber colour and the hops really shine through nicely.
A light experimental ale . Single hopped with mosaic. 6 different malts including 1/3 smoked, which gives this ale smoke on the nose! Sessionable, however not for everyone!
A graceful golden beer brewed with Amarillo, First Gold and Challenger hops from the UK and USA. We use three malts; English Maris Otter, German Munich and the favourite, Belgian Biscuit which gives this beer it’s wonderful toasty finish and beautiful golden hue. This beer brings a wonderful balance of sweet floral notes and a subtle orange finish making it our favourite session beer.
A craft Pilsner with Saaz hoppy flavours. Hoppy, light & refreshing. Produced on the edge of the Solent between mainland U.K. and the Isle of Wight, this Lager is named after the famous double tide seen on this stretch of water.
Mumby's Ginger Pale Ale follows in the footsteps of Gosport's very own Mumby's Ginger Beer. Produced not far from the brewery in the mid-1800's. This Pale ale is hopped with experimental British hops that possess a ginger aroma as well as being infused with Ginger root. A fiery number, refreshing and best served by the lashing!
A dry, hoppy traditional bitter with a light bronze colour. Excellent on its own and particularly good with food.
Brewed with powerful North American Simcoe hops to give a strong fruity hop flavour which balances the weight of malt in a traditional 6% IPA - very full and rounded in the mouth.
A classic English style session bitter. Using Warminster Maltings pale malt combined with toasted malts to give this conker brown ale a delicious nutty flavour. English hops add a subtle bitterness making a traditional ale with good rounded flavours and an extra layer of freshness from the addition of dry hops.
This Pale ale with a well-balanced, citrus aroma is brewed with four varieties of hop in 2018 - Fuggles, English Cascade, Farnham White and Pioneer, all lovingly grown by us within 50 yards of our Brewery.
A Festival special Spiced Rum Ale that started as a joke! “I will NEVER do a beer called Captain B.........!” said Malc,.. er’ this strong sweet and spicy taste of the Caribbean proves otherwise. Flavours of Cinnamon and Vanilla dominate with dark sugar notes."
Name changed from Watercress Line Bitter to Watercress Best. A hint of locally produced watercress gives this smooth-drink bitter a unique and attractive flavour. Named after the Watercress Line heritage railway, which passes by the brewery at Alresford.
Auburn/chestnut colour. H2H is well balanced between crisp biscuity maltiness and a citrus and fruit hop character with a hint of bitterness in the finish
A highly-hopped classic session bitter. The predominant hops are East Kent Goldings which give a Seville Orange marmalade flavour. As well as Pale Ale malt, Hoppit also contains dark Invert Sugar which gives the beer its trademark smooth taste.
A multi-grain red beer brewed with Barley, Wheat, Oats and Crystal Rye and hopped with Fuggles and Styrian Goldings from Slovenia to produce a beer packed with flavour and aroma.
A dark copper coloured beer with plenty of malt in the mouth and a good whack of bitterness from traditonally English hops. Thirst quencingly bitter but light in alcohol, Bunny Chaser makes the perfect quaffing beer.
Session IPA - big hop flavours with a lower ABV.
Golden amber in colour with a delicate fruity aroma and hints of ripe apricots. Clean, refreshingly bitter and easy drinking.
Dick Olding brewed in Southwick Brewhouse from 1906 to 1957, retiring at the ripe old age of 81. He died soon after, taking his recipes with him, but with its old English hops and Southwick malted barley, we are sure that ‘Old Dick’ would approve this way of being remembered.
American Pale Ale. Maris Otter and Vienna malts showcasing Centennial and Columbus hops from the US with Jester hops from the UK. Bags of citrus fruits that finish spicy and bitter, with sweet malt and hints of biscuit and toffee to offset the huge hoppy assault on the taste buds. A full on dry hopped American style pale ale.
